November Rain Loop Jam was arranged and performed by Kevin McClain of McMusic Lessons & Performances. The jam is styled in a heavy metal Irish jig. Kevin uses BOSS RC-300 Loop stations and an Alesis SR16 drum machine to create improvised jams and arrangements. The music is often inspired by favorite songs and melodies in a solo act he likes to call Hooked.

BOSS RC-300 Settings in the November Rain Loop Jam
The BOSS RC-300 Loop Station has an array of settings to configure different ways of looping. The most common used is called a trail setting. When this setting is on it allows you to lay down pre-recorded tracks on each pedal. In this way, musicians can play songs that may have three different sections. Usually forms of songs are configured with an introverse and chorus. Additionally, there are ways to program the effects pedal to offer a fourth option for variated parts. For example a song made consist of an intro and outro that are slightly different from the verse and chorus sections. Sometimes, songs will even have slightly different verse or chorus sections themselves. It all depends on the complexity of the song. For most “Hooked” jams, Kevin will turn the trail setting off and put loops to replace. This allows an evolution of the the jam by enabling the primary loops to be replaced without stopping the performance.
